It is deeply symbolic that these two holidays are celebrated in our country almost simultaneously, thus embodying the inextricable link between generations of defenders of the Fatherland.
For centuries, our ancestors defended our land from the encroachments of the enemy and preserved it for us. One of the brightest pages in the heroic chronicle of our country is the feat of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers in the Great Patriotic War. For us and all future generations of Kazakhstanis, it will always serve as an example of selfless service to the Motherland.
I was lucky to catch the times when we celebrated the Victory Days together with veterans; we could listen to their memories and shake hands with them. Their main wish has always been that there should be no war. We, the boys, then did not attach any importance to these words, taking peacetime for granted. However, now, in our days, when military conflicts are blazing right next to us, and peaceful life has turned out to be more fragile than ever, those words take on a special meaning.
Echoing the veterans, I want to wish all of us a peaceful sky over our Motherland! I wish our valiant defenders, protecting our peace and our independence, to be worthy successors of the glorious military traditions of previous generations!
