INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE "SYMBOLS OF STATEHOOD" WAS HELD ON THE EVE OF THE CELEBRATION OF THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF STATE SYMBOLS

On June 1 this year, the Library of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy hosted the international scientific conference "Symbols of Statehood", dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the event is the formation of the younger generation's respectful attitude to the state symbols of the country.

"For any country, state symbols are not only a natural attribute that emphasizes independence, this is a system of deep socio-cultural and political meanings. These meanings are based on a historical foundation and carry a national memory. State symbols are an integral part of the country's image, an expression of the patriotism of its citizens, a factor in the consolidation of the entire civil society, and an integral part of the formation of the identity of any nation and state. In the conditions of construction of the New Kazakhstan, proclaimed by President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the necessity of reconsideration of the image content of the state symbols is actualized. The conference will discuss a wide range of issues related to the role of political symbols as the basis of socio-cultural attitudes of society; the importance of the state ideology and national idea in the era of globalization; patriotic education of the younger generation", Director of the Library of Elbasy Bakytzhan Temirbolat said in his welcoming speech.

Vice-Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurgisa Daueshov read the Address of the Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Karin to the participants of the conference.

"Dear participants of the conference! This year marks exactly 30 years since the adoption of the state symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan! Respect for the Motherland, a reverent attitude to the native land begins with respect for national state symbols, which are the main attributes of the country's sovereignty, the most important tool for strengthening the national spirit and social harmony, as well as patriotic education. The inviolability of our blue Flag, golden State Emblem and Anthem symbolizes the unity and prosperity of the Kazakh people and the high status of our state. I am sure that today's International scientific conference "Symbols of Statehood" will make a significant contribution to this work. I wish you creative success and fruitful work for the benefit of our country!", the address says.

"Today we are discussing a very important topic because state symbols are of decisive importance for modern youth in terms of codifying their belonging to the nation. The current young generation of Kazakhstanis has an active civic position and wants to participate in decision-making at all levels, they want their voice to be heard. And we must give them the opportunity to implement their initiatives. To this end, together with members of the Presidential Youth Policy Council, as well as representatives of civil society and the expert community, a new Concept of Youth Policy will be developed, which will determine the global direction and vision of how the youth movement will develop in the future," said Alexander Danilov, Vice Minister of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"The names of our ancestors and all Kazakhstanis are inscribed in the history of the creation of the national emblem. Our national emblem is a symbol of the millennial history, spirit and consciousness, traditions and philosophy of the great Kazakh steppe. In the new era, in the New Kazakhstan, it is necessary to use modern methods to promote state symbols. I believe that our national emblem, flag and anthem should be present at every official and informal event. Only then will our symbols of statehood be widely distributed among the younger generation," Zhandarbek Malibekov, the author of the State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shared his opinion.

Presentations were also made by Deputy Executive Director of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation Alkey Margulanuly, Professor of the George Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Professor of Emeritus University Gregory Gleason (New Mexico USA), Head of the Department for Relations with Political Parties and the Legislature of the Administration President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Usubaliev Asif Adil oglu, Vice-Rector for socio-cultural development of L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University Dikhan Kamzabekuly, Member of the Board for Innovation, Internationalization and Transformation of the North Kazakhstan University named after M. Kozybaev, winner of the project "100 New Personalities of Kazakhstan" Damel Mektepbayeva and others.

In total, about 200 people from among the representatives of the teaching staff of universities, teachers of secondary educational institutions, the expert community, students, undergraduates and public figures took part in the conference in the online/offline format.

Following the results of the conference, recommendations were developed on further popularization of the state symbols of Kazakhstan among young people both within the country and abroad.
