The next part of the information project «History of the country in the exhibits and archival documents of the Elbassy library», is dedicated to the event of socio-political, economic and cultural life of Kazakhstan in the outgoing year - the holding of the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017.
The Bureau international des expositions (BIE) is an intergovernmental organization created to supervise international exhibitions falling under the jurisdiction of the Convention Relating to International Exhibitions. This organization began its work on November 22, 1928 in Paris. On February 4, 2016 169 member countries have adhered to the BIE Convention. The BIE regulates two types of expositions: registered exhibitions (commonly called World Expos) and recognized exhibitions (commonly called Specialized Expositions).
In November 2012 in Paris, representatives of more than 100 states gave us the high honor of entrusting this exhibition in the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana.
The unique exhibits connected not only with the EXPO-2017 in Astana, but also with the history of the International Exhibitions have been added to the Elbassy library’s museum collections.
In June 2017 with the permission of NC «Astana EXPO-2017» Chinese companies Wanbo and Zhangdao Wenhua have issued commemorative banknotes devoted to Expo 2017 International Specialized Exhibition and the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China.
The companies presented the banknotes at a special briefing in the district of Pudong, Shanghai. The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shanghai, Astana EXPO-2017 Promotion and Tourism Department, the Council for the Promotion of International Trade of China, Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office and Chamber of Commerce, party leaders of the Shanghai Free-Trade Zone exhibition area, nearly 50 large Chinese enterprises, as well as notaphilists and media representatives took part at the presentation.
The issue of commemorative notes for EXPO-2017 has become the first in the entire history of international exhibitions since 1851. 5,000 sets of the two banknotes (with no value indicated) depict Kazakhstan (Baiterek and the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan at Expo 2017 on a blue background) and China (the Great Wall and the Temple of Heaven on a yellow background).
In September 2017 President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met with President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda. Head of State has warmly welcomed Andrzej Duda and thanked him for participating in the National Day of Poland within the framework of «EXPO-2017» international exhibition.
– Today we are taking part in the Kazakh-Polish business forum. I still have warm memories of my visit to Poland last August. Such contacts testify to the great mutual desire of the two countries to cooperate, the Head of State said.
The President of Kazakhstan has also noted that there are no obstacles between the two states for expanding bilateral cooperation.
– I gladly look back to all our meetings. Your last visit to Poland brought a lot of new to the development of economic cooperation of our countries. I would particularly like to note that it was your visit that gave a new impetus to the activities in this direction, Andrzej Duda said.
A set of glasses from crystal from the President of the Republic of Poland is stored the Library’s collections in memory of this meeting.
New collections will be presented in the expositions of the Elbassy library in the near future.
