ROUND TABLE «GREEN ECONOMY» - THE PARADIGM OF INNOVATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF KAZAKHSTAN

During the years of Independence, thanks to the strategic initiatives of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan has become the first country in the post-Soviet space where the ideas of the "green economy" are practically introduced into the model of economic development of the state. Since 2013, the Republic has been consistently implementing the "Concept for the transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan to a "green economy ".

Currently, on behalf of the Head of State K.K. Tokayev, a national project for 2021-2025 "Green Kazakhstan" is being developed, as well as in the regions of the country the large-scale task of planting 2 billion trees set by the President is being implemented.

This document presents a list of priority tasks aimed at reforming specific sectors of the economy. The Concept raises issues of efficient use of natural resources and improving the well-being of citizens of Kazakhstan through diversifying the economy and creating new jobs. Among the important priorities are strengthening the health of the nation, increasing the life expectancy of the population by improving the environment, ensuring sustainable development through modernizing the economy and balanced growth of the regions.

The successful implementation of one of the significant projects of Kazakhstan - the International Exhibition "EXPO-2017" entitled "Energy of the Future", has attracted the world's best technologies in the field of energy conservation, new developments and technologies for the use of alternative energy sources to our country.

The holding of EXPO-2017 and the creation of the Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects in the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the assistance of the United Nations on the basis of the exhibition are Kazakhstan's substantive contribution to international efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UN SDGs are a set of 17 interrelated goals designed to be a "blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future for all".

The purpose of the round table: to study topical issues of the implementation of the "green economy" in Kazakhstan; analysis of the stages and results of the implementation of the "Concept for the transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan to a" green economy "; discussion of the prospects for creating a new type of economy as a key factor in creating a stable and sustainable state.

M.V. Lomonosov, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Academician of the Russian Ecological Academy; Yakup Berish - Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kazakhstan; Aliyev Mahir - coordinator of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) for Europe, head of the interim Secretariat of the Tehran Convention, as well as well-known experts and representatives of the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects, youth labor groups “Zhasyl El”, etc.

Among the online participants are representatives of the territorial departments of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, youth labor groups "Zhasyl El", teaching staff, undergraduates and doctoral students of the departments of ecology and biology of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as volunteers of the Library of  Elbasy.
