RESPONSE TO THE ONLINE CONFERENCE «TURKESTAN - THE SPIRITUAL CAPITAL OF THE TURKIC WORLD»

The conference, organized at the initiative of the Library of the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, was the first major event after the informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states, chaired by  Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and was a valuable addition to this forum.
One of the historic decisions of the summit is the recognition of Turkestan as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world.

On the day of signing the Decree on changing the name of the region and proclaiming the city of Turkestan a regional center, the First President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, said: "Turkestan is important for our people. It is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. In 2000, we celebrated its 1500th anniversary at the UNESCO level. At crucial times in our history, important decisions were made here regarding the future of the entire nation. Many famous representatives of our people are buried in Turkestan. In general, the history of the city is the history of all Kazakhs."

The decision of Elbasy to designate Turkestan the status of the center of the largest region in the south of the country, located on the Great Silk Road and the former capital of the Kazakh khanate, is as natural and written in golden letters in the history of the nation as his great initiative to move the capital of Kazakhstan to the very center of Saryarka.

Undoubtedly, this decision of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev, the recognized Aksakal of the Turkic world, who united all the Turkic-speaking states and established a number of international organizations designed to strengthen the Turkic world, will give a new impetus to the development of Turkestan, sacred to all the Turkic peoples, which has become a "Second Mecca", a spiritual center and a place of attraction for tourists from all over the world.
All participants of the online conference organized by the Library of Elbasy - statesmen, scientists, leaders and foreign experts - emphasized the high degree of importance of the summit held on March 31 and cited in their reports many historical facts from the chronicle of Turkestan, showing its honorable place in the modern world.
I am sure that ancient and sacred Turkestan awaits a bright future and a title of one of the most beautiful and attractive cities of the world!
